-
2024 winners – please return your trophies to the shack as soon as you can.
Reminder: Please refrain from spraying mosquito/insect repellent on or around the putting greens and/or tees. The ingredients of the repellant can cause damage and kill the grass. Please apply insect repellant in the parking lot.
Mike Roy Memorial
This year’s edition of the Mike Roy Memorial on Saturday, July 19 is already full but please do feel free to add your name to the waiting list as there is always last-minute finagling as we try to get everyone in if we can. Please do not remove your name or swap names from the waiting list; if you must drop out or are replacing someone, please do not touch the master document but email dunany.news@gmail.com to let Paul Logothetis know what changes must be made.

This year we will have a La Confrérie food truck on site serving a meal and side for approximately $30 per person. If you would like to come for the meal, please add your name to the DINNER ONLY tab at the bottom of the sign-up sheet by July 10. Kids are welcome to come for dinner!

Golfers – if you have signed up to play and have not indicated whether you are eating or not by July 10, we will assume you are staying for dinner.

MATCH PLAY BEGINS! FOUR BALL MATCH PLAY, PRESIDENT’S AND CAPTAIN’S PRIZE
The brackets for the President’s, Captain’s and 4-Ball Matches are available for viewing on the Ladies Golf Program Homepage
Before match play
-
Verify your scores are posted up to that day. When marking up your cards, it is important that you are playing with a current Handicap Index (the one with the decimal – do not use the Course Handicap without the decimal) and you use the Ladies Stroke Allocator to determine the handicap strokes and observe the 90% Allowance rule.
-
Acquaint yourself with Rule 3 in the Rules Book and arrive at the golf course with your scorecards prepared in advance.
-
Don’t forget to put an identifying mark on your ball!
-
Please arrange matches early in allotted time periods so that matches are played before the posted due dates.
-
Read the General Reference Guide for Ladies Events for everything you need to know!
Please remember matches do not take precedence on the golf course. You must let playing
groups through if you are lagging one full hole behind the group in front of you. If you notice your group lagging, please speed up play by:
-
Restricting practice swings.
-
Being aware of whose turn it is to play and BE READY.
-
Lining up your putts and BE READY when it is your turn to putt.
-
Sprinting between green and following tee.
Please contact Dianne Vanstone - 416-508-4490 or diannevanstone@rogers.com - with any questions concerning Ladies Golf.

Quilt Update
“We are making excellent progress on the quilt but there is still work to do. I would love to hear from all the long-time participants. There will be two more drop-in sessions at the Sutherland's on:
-
Thursday, July 10, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
-
Sunday, July 13 from, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
We have air conditioning if that's an incentive! Please contact me at jtowell1000@gmail.com or 450.562. 5668 with any questions and to arrange a time that suits you - I am very flexible and would like as many people as possible to add some stitches. No experience necessary. I will be contacting those who have quilted to come back and add their initials in the next few weeks.” - Jean Sutherland
**
Some sad news to share from earlier this year: Valerie Harrison – designer of the log cabin quilt and former resident of Black Lake – passed away earlier this year. Jean says, “she taught everyone how to make the blocks then it was quilted on a frame – a different method for Dunany.”
Please read her full obituary here.

Volunteer Spotlight
This week’s star volunteer is none other than Don Sutherland, who is helping members literally come to grips! Earlier this spring, Don offered to re-grip members golf clubs for a donation, with every dollar going to support our Junior Program.

A big thanks to Don for helping our juniors — and our clubs — get a better grip on the game!
