News Bulletin - June 24, 2026

On the course

The first tournament of the season is nearly here with Saturday’s mixed Raguin Leslie Cup. Please sign up by Friday at 12 p.m. to compete in this 1-day, 9-hole net tournament for low net, low gross (Men’s) and low gross (Ladies’). Please arrive by 9:45 a.m. on Saturday for the 10 a.m. shotgun start.

Golfers looking to qualify to play in this season’s Men’s Markham Cup tournament must play 9 holes on Saturday or Sunday (please declare your Markham round to the starter before teeing off and submit your score to the starter afterward). Please book your own tee time.

Speaking of mixed events, The Pines mixed best-ball bracket is set as is the Men’s Best Ball bracket. First round matches for both tournaments must be completed by Sunday, July 5.

Junior Lessons will be up and running from next week, which also means the course is closed on Monday mornings until 11a.m. in July so Chris Hart and his team can further maintain the course.

Local baker The Nook will once again be providing a selection of sandwiches and wraps, grab & go snacks, and treats for purchase on-site at the Starter Shack (charges will be made directly to your Chronogolf account) and in advance, members can pre-order by emailing:  05TheNook@gmail.com

Ladies Golf

The deadline to sign up for all match-play tournaments, such as the 4-Ball, President’s / Captain’s Prizes is Monday (June 28).  Please read the ‘General Reference Guide for Ladies Events’ located on the Fixture Card under ‘Ladies Program Homepage’ under the title ‘Other Useful Links’ for more detailed explanations.

If you missed today’s Qualifying Round, come out for the Raguin Leslie Cup on Saturday or Ladies Day on July 1 for your score to count.

Social Scene

This year we’ve consolidated all social events sign up sheets into one single document, check it out here. Events are separated by tabs and more will be added as the season goes on.

Volunteers of the Week

This week’s shoutout goes to Scott Laekas, who rallied dozens of DCC members to travel to the West Island to Alan Morton’s home to help finish landscaping work our late friend had been planning.

The DCC community showed up for Alan and his family, who are inviting members to a Celebration of Life for Alan at the clubhouse on July 31.

Dunany Glee Club at the clubhouse

Glee club.jpg

The 'Sing with Glee Event' opened the season’s first 5 à 7 of the season with musical flare!   On a rainy night, the Dunany Glee Club started the evening with the song ‘Africa’ to get things rolling. The Glee Club engaged the audience in a fun-filled evening of sing-along to favourite familiar tunes from many different eras.

Many heartfelt anecdotes and tributes to Mary Chuprun highlighted the event.   Thank you to all who attended and who helped put this together for such a memorable evening."

- Cathy Ashley, Director of the Dunany Glee Club
